Welcome! Benvenuto! Italy is an incredible country that everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. After reading only a little information, you'll feel capable and empowered to get started planning your first trip.
Start with the Tips and Logistics
before the Suggested Itinerary
This site exists to help you begin to tackle what can seem like an overwhelming research project. And obviously there will still be plenty of homework ahead as you begin to look up what exactly is the Palazzo Ducale and search for hotels that fit your preferences and how often do the trains leave from Venice to Florence. Because ticket prices and opening hours may change, that information won't be listed here, but you'll learn how to find the official websites for the final word. Once upon a time, tourists did all of this with only a heavy guidebook and a paper map, so things have come a long way with instant answers on the internet!
The 4 cities on the traditional "Grand Tour" of Italy: Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples (or Sorrento)
FYI, it's very possible to do this suggested two-week itinerary for only $3000 per person. Your milage may vary by using airline rewards miles or choosing five-star hotels. This site leans towards traveling cheaply but comfortably, and many of the tips will reflect that.
